Introducing the New Bionix® Ear Lavage System Top

Safe Straw from Bionix
Bionix® Medical Technologies introduces the new Bionix® Ear Lavage System, a complete solution for safe and simple cerumen removal. The new Ear Lavage System includes a portable Waterpik with high and low flow settings. The high and low flow settings give practitioners the ability to adjust it based on patient or procedural needs. The new system also comes with a larger reservoir than its predecessor. The 210ml tank holds more fluid, reducing time spent refilling the system.

The Ear Lavage system features the innovative Bionix OtoClear® Ear Irrigation tip. The one of a kind OtoClear tip utilizes divergent streams to safely and effectively remove cerumen. The three streamed tip directs the irrigation solution to the ear canal wall preventing the uncomfortable and potentially harmful outcome of directly contacting the tympanic membrane.

The Bionix Ear Lavage System is an efficient and economic way for medical professionals to provide the highest level of care. The kit includes 40 OtoClear tips, 1 Portable Waterpik, 3 adapter wands and 1 irrigation basin.

The Ear Lavage System is an extension of the OtoClear Ear Irrigation product line. Also available is the Bionix Spray Wash Kit (20 OtoClear tips, 1 Spray Wash bottle and 1 irrigation basin), replacement OtoClear tips (40/bx) and Ear Irrigation Basins (3/bx).

Bionix Introduces the SafeStraw™ - A volume limiting drinking aid for dysphagia patients. Top

Safe Straw from BionixTOLEDO, OH - Bionix® Medical Technologies, a market leading medical device company for over 25 years, introduces the SafeStraw™  - A volume limiting drinking aid.  Designed by a Speech Language Pathologist, the SafeStraw is a new device designed to safely deliver a controlled bolus size, approximately 6.2 ml’s or 1 tsp, to individuals with swallowing dysfunction.
The limited bolus size allows the user to control and swallow the bolus while minimizing a loss from the oral cavity, premature swallow, or aspiration.  Additionally, the SafeStraw requires the user to take a short break between sips assuring bolus control.

The Bionix SafeStraw can be used as a therapeutic tool with a patient recovering from a condition such as a stroke, or as an everyday drinking aid for those that need bolus size control. It is offered in two varieties, one for thin fluids (white SafeStraw) such as water, juice (no pulp), etc. The other is for nectar thickened fluids (blue SafeStraw).  The SafeStraw is available in boxes of 12 thin or thick, or as a variety pack containing 6 of each.

Difficulty swallowing is often diagnosed as dysphagia and is a condition shared by over 15,000,000 Americans.  Often, when drinking, individuals with dysphagia or other oral motor dysfunction have difficulty controlling a liquid bolus. Their Pharyngeal muscles react slowly, and they lose fluid from the oral cavity or aspirate.  These issues can lead to health problems such as aspiration pneumonia, or to simple loss of dignity and withdrawal.

Bionix Introduces the Articulating Safe Ear Curette™ Top

Articulating Safe ear Curette from BionixThe only curette that articulates up to 90° to assist in the removal of cerumen from the ear canal.

In the year of its 25th Anniversary, Bionix® Medical Technologies introduces the new Articulating Safe Ear Curette™.
The Articulating Safe Ear Curette is the only ear curette that articulates up to 90° to assist in the removal of cerumen and foreign bodies from the ear canal.

The Articulating Safe Ear Curette works because of the unique living hinge at the tip and the split handle design. Once the Articulating Ear Curette’s tip is positioned beyond an obstructive cerumen plug, usually through a space between the ear canal wall and the plug, the tip can be articulated by simply sliding the forefinger and thumb in opposite directions. The cerumen can then be pulled straight from the ear canal without using a blind sweeping motion.

The Articulating Safe Ear Curette is available in boxes of 50 for $54.50.

Bionix Medical Technologies began advancing the technology of cerumen removal 25 years ago. Each innovation has added value to everyday procedures, positioning Bionix as the World Leader in Safe Cerumen Removal.  The Bionix Safe Cerumen Removal line of products includes the original Safe Ear Curette™, the Lighted Ear Curette™ with Magnification, and OtoClear® Ear Irrigation tips.

Bionix introduces the Controlled-Flow® Baby Feeder
Top

Controlled Flow Baby Feeder from BionixRevolutionary product provides infant feeding specialists the ability to provide consistent controlled-flow feeding to premature infants.

Toledo, OH – Bionix Medical Technologies has released the Controlled-Flow Baby Feeder for sale.  The Controlled-Flow Baby Feeder is a revolutionary product that provides infant feeding specialists, nurses and parents the ability to provide consistent, controlled feedings to premature infants helping them coordinate the feeding process. The Controlled-Flow Baby Feeder was developed with the assistance of Amy Ruth, Speech/Language Pathologist at The Toledo Children’s Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.

It is designed to successfully transition babies from non-oral to oral feeding.  The Controlled-Flow Baby Feeder controls the flow of nutrition utilizing six, easy to adjust, settings beginning with “zero” flow for non-nutritive sucking; and gradually increases in levels 1-5. During use it will introduce nutrition at a very slow rate to stimulate esophageal motility and to condition the sensory system as the baby begins to associate taste with appetite satiation. The Controlled-Flow Baby Feeder allows the caregiver to increase or decrease flow based on cues provided by the baby during feeding. It also reduces the risk of aspiration as the baby learns to coordinate a timely suck, swallow, breathe sequence. The Baby Feeder allows the infant to begin to coordinate the suck, swallow, breathe process, avoiding the traumatic experiences that can delay the child’s oral feeding success. Delays can add to long hospital stays (average around 24 days) and the extremely high hospitalization costs (average $79,000).  The Controlled-Flow Baby Feeder is available now, both direct from Bionix or through the medical distribution network.

Bionix Baby Feeder Is Certified BPA And Pthalate Free  Top

The innovative Bionix® Controlled Flow® Baby Feeder is safe for the most fragile babies.

Bionix® Medical Technologies, a market leading medical device company for nearly 25 years and manufacturer of the innovative Controlled Flow® Baby Feeder, announces its bottle to be Bisphenol A (BPA) and Phthalate free.  The recent media coverage of BPA and Phthalates being used in the manufacturing process of many products used for feeding prompted proactive testing by Bionix.

Bisphenol A is a hormone-disrupting chemical considered to be potentially harmful to human health and the environment. It is known that scratched and worn polycarbonate feeding bottles will leach this chemical into liquids. Phthalates are potentially toxic compounds mainly used as plasticizers in the production of a variety of products. Independent testing of the Bionix Controlled Flow Baby Feeder found it to be free of both harmful additives.

The Controlled Flow Baby Feeder is an innovative system that controls the flow of nutrition. It utilizes six flow settings, each easily adjustable to equal the feeding capabilities of the individual premature or medically fragile baby. By catering to the needs of each baby, the Controlled Flow Baby Feeder helps to develop the necessary suck/swallow/breath skills needed to successfully oral feed. The flow of nutrition gradually increases from “zero” for a non-nutritive suck, to level 5, just below that of a standard stage one nipple. These gradual flow increases help develop feeding skills with consistent, low risk feedings. Users of the Controlled Flow Baby Feeder describe it as a breakthrough feeding solution for infants.  “I don't know who thought up this idea, but it (Controlled Flow Baby Feeder) is awesome, one of the best new devices for neonates in the last ten years.” said Chris Smith, Neonatal CNS at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Christine McClure, M, Ed.CCC/SLP comments, “I have worked as a pediatric SLP for 15 years specializing in feeding and swallowing disorders. Each year I anxiously anticipate the arrival of a product that will help control the flow rate so my medically fragile and preemie babies can become successful feeders without developing sensory based feeding aversions. The Controlled Flow Bottle has been the answer!”

The following is an excerpt from a letter written by Dr. Allen Neese, M.D. who requested the product for the mission.

"All of the doctors and nurses who tried them were very impressed. A family practitioner from Austin, Texas, wants to order some when he gets home. An emergency department nurse from Abilene, Texas wants to do the same. Dr. Sid Tate, our family practitioner at the Namwianga Rural Health Centre in Kalomo, Zambia, received 2/3 of the supply of ear curettes. He emphatically stated, "These are the best instruments I've ever used." I promised to buy the new instruments as soon as they are available. Dr. Ellen Little is a pediatrician in Kampala, Uganda. She was equally impressed with these little gems and I gave her 1/3 of the supply for her clinic. I will provide her with the latest instrument when it becomes available."

Bionix Brings Safety to DeClogging Tubes with the Enteral Feeding Tube DeClogger® Top

Feeding Tube DeClogger from BionixA Unique Flexible Rod allows you to quickly de-clog Enteral Feeding Tubes without juices, enzyme mixtures or carbonated beverages.

The Bionix Enteral Feeding Tube DeClogger provides an economical alternative for maintaining patency
of tubes. Using the DeClogger as a preventive procedure or after a clog occurs is an easy way to save valuable nursing and physician time and does not prolong interruption of the tube feedings.

In Long Term Care settings where enteral nutrition therapies are practiced, it is inevitable that over time clogs will form in enternal feeding tubes. In the past there have been a number of home remedies used to unclog feeding tubes such as cranberry juice, enzyme mixtures and carbonated beverages. These methods are often times consuming and ineffective, causing the patient to be taken to the emergency room for tube replacement.

Bionix recognized the problem and developed the Enteral Feeding Tube DeClogger, a flexible rod, made of polypropylene, with a spiral tip oriented in a clockwise fashion. This product will quickly and effectively bore through and dislodge blockages that form in enternal feeding tubes in less than two minutes. DeClogger is available for PEG, Gastrostomy and Jejunostomy tubes that measure 12-24 French.

Using the DeClogger will decrease the cost of tube maintenance significantly by reducing the need for surgical replacement of obstructed tubes. DeClogger also offers safety features to prevent over-insertion including a stop disc and markings every 2cm in case a tube has been altered in length. DeClogger may also be reimbursable by Medicare. The Enteral Feeding Tube DeClogger is available for order direct from Bionix or through the medical distribution network.
